My Top 2021 Christmas Wish List:

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! I am in love with this time of year, and all that it means & brings!

I know gift guides are everywhere right now, and I will absolutely make some for next weeks blog post, but for this week I thought I would share with you all a few of the top things I put on my Christmas list in case anyone is looking for inspiration!

Here are probably my top five (and a little random if I may add..I guess that’s just being 26)!

Bissell Green Machine;

So if you’re here from my Instagram, you may have seen me borrow my friends Bissell Green Machine! We fell in love with it, and I decided I need that or the mop/sweeper version to have on hand for deeps clean of the furniture, rugs, chairs, spills, stains, etc.! Anyone over 23 I think would thoroughly enjoy this gift! Lol

Ultra Mini Ugg Boots;

I have been eyeing the Ultra Mini Ugg’s!! I made the silly mistake of throwing out my Ugg’s a few years ago, (WHY fml; I had so many), when they were so out of style…but now I’m in desperate need for a go to shoe in the winter!! Slip ons that are quick and casual to take Rin out, and to run errands!

Drew House Branded Hoodie;

Justin Bieber is my favorite, and so of course I want to rock his line of clothes, and I spend a lot of my time in hoodies and sweats so I know this would get amazing use!

Nike Blazer Mid Vintage;

I have been wanting these shoes for SO long, and they never have my size in stock! It’s so frustrating, lol, because there have been so many times I have wanted to wear them with an outfit but no shoes physically to wear! So I’ll keep these on my list because I would love to get them whenever 7.5 comes back in stock!

Le Labo Perfume;

I’ll thank my friend Arika for this one! I started loving Le Labo perfume a year or so ago, and have been using similar Sephora branded perfumes since then to make sure I liked the way they smelled on me! I would love to have this custom perfume, along side a more feminine smell in my bathroom to wear for different occasions!

Okay so the list could go on and on and on, but those are some that came to my head right away! Happy shopping, and EARLY, because everything is taking so long 😉

Ps; what is at the top of your lists this year? Let me be influenced and inspired…

Working From Home Tips:

5 tips I have learned from working from home that have helped me stay on track and be productive!

One, let’s start off by saying have grace with yourself that not everyday will be as focused or as on as the last, but you’re human, and tomorrow is a new day!

  1. Time Block
  2. Designated Space for Work
  3. Take Breaks
  4. Inspiring Ambience
  5. Get Ready for Your Day
  1. Time Blocking;

Time blocking has been my saving grace since working from home and I’ll be completely honest, like what I mentioned above, is that some days are better than others! However, I think if you have the capability in your day to figure out when you’re most inspired or focused and able to work best…to plan your day around that! Finding the priorities in your life and working to fit that stuff in first and foremost, and then planning the rest of your day around it has helped me a lot! For example; doing my business, having time for my relationship with Ryan and Rin, and focusing on my health and working out, are some of the top priorities in my every day life! I find that I usually work best in the morning, so I try to work in the morning! I also time-block my days while I’m working…setting different times to have intentional focus on exactly what I need to get done helps me have breaks and avoid mental capacity overloaded. It helps me from feeling burnt out, because I then can step away after I’ve done my different time blocking during my work focus and go change out the laundry, go sit and have a fizz with Rin or take him for a walk and not feel guilty, because it’s mapped into my day allowing me to have breaks and productivity without getting distracted by everything else going on in my life and in my house.

2. Have A Designated Spot To Work At;

I know not everyone has the ability to have an entire room set aside for their workspace, and up until we moved into this house at the end of January, neither did I. I just created a space by carving out and moving things around in our one bedroom very small 600 ft.² apartment to have a space that was mine. Without it, I felt like all my day was muddled together, the difference between letting loose on the couch, laying in bed, and working we’re all blending together. So invest in a small inexpensive desk and chair that you love from Hobby Lobby/ HomeGoods/ Amazon or Target, and find a place to put that in your bedroom or in your living space. Now you must know that when you’re sitting down at that spot, that means you are in “your office”, as well when you get up you now have that sort of escape out of it, so having that assigned space allows me to feel focused & the zone.

3. Take Breaks;

I kind of mentioned this one already in my time blocking tip which is definitely my most important and effective tip, but making sure that you don’t feel like you have to overwork yourself just because you are working from home, just know that there are many breaks in conversations and things that would happen in an office setting that don’t happen at home. Do not get me wrong, it is way easier in my personal opinion, to get distracted at home because you have so many other things going on in your mind and distractions around you. However, by putting in breaks to have some lunch, or do house chores, go do errands, get a workout in etc. it is going to allow for you to be fully in the moment that you have planned with work…knowing that your break is coming and that you don’t have to fry your brain for 56 hours straight; but like I said make sure you are being really intentional and productive with the time that you have allotted.

4. Create An Inspiring Ambience;

Ambience for productivity and working from home has been super helpful for me! I am a huge fan of vision boards, and making sure that I can see that every day while I’m working inspires me and reminds me why I am working every day…therefore I really encourage that you put it one or around your desk area that you have created for yourself. I also love decorating my space and always light a candle when I sit down to work, call me crazy, but the great smell and decor around me with a cozy blanket and comfortable chair (make sure you get a comfortable chair not one that hurt your back because then you’ll dry getting into it allows for you to feel like you’re ready to sit down) makes sitting down to work enjoyable. The environment is everything for me, oh and I also love putting on Christian or instrumental jazz music to comfort me, and allows me to have a clear mental headspace while I’m working.

5. Get Ready For Your Day

“Dress Well, Test Well”, that is the saying anyways right 😉 Last but not least tip, this is not something that I always do and by no means do you have to practice it every single day…but if you are working from home and it requires you to be on zoom meetings or to take content, getting yourself ready is helpful! Also, getting ready doesn’t have to mean full hair and make up, but getting yourself presentable in a semi-cute comfy outfit (beautiful thing now is that there’s so many sweatpants outfits are cute but still comfortable and practical) will allow you to feel more work and go mode. I swear when you do your skin care routine, and even fix up and brush your hair through LOL, it allows you to feel more productive and like you are getting yourself ready to go work. You’re going to be more motivated to do other things, maybe post some photos or get on zoom and work with some other friends, whatever your situation looks like for your workspace, but I have found that this helps me to feel more productive and more professional in my work setting from home

All of the steps are things that I have learned working from home the past few years, and like I said just practice and figure out what time works best for you to really really focus in on what needs to get done that day/week. The time blocking aspect allows me to focus on my priorities, be productive, and get things that I need to get done in every avenue of my life including my workspace!

Let me know if these tips are helpful for you, and I if you have any awesome tips I would love to hear them as well!

5 Things I Do To Help Get Myself Out of a Funk:

We all go through phases where one week we are on top of the world and on track to hit every goal we have, and the next were struggling to wake up to get through the minimum musts of the day…waiting for the minute it is time for bed or a drink…so here are a few things I like to do when I find myself in a funk;

1.Workout

Working out is always the best for me mentally! I truly don’t workout just for the physical results, but for the endorphins and structure and clarity it gives my days! Moving my body releases so much stress anxiety tension etc, and always allows me for a better day after it! Don’t overestimate just getting outside and doing a walk, for so long I felt like the only way to truly exercise or workout was a full gym or workout class which is so far from the truth, a walk outside is a beautiful way to exercise and nature always makes me happier and grounded.

2. Lists & Schedules

I usually find myself in a funk when I’m overwhelmed with so many things and subjects of things to do/ focus on etc. in my life! Whether it be work, travel, relationship, wedding planning, house tasks, dog momma duties, personal life, etc! I have found that creating a schedule and system for myself, helps keeps me accountable and on track! Don’t get me wrong there are days where I’m far off my schedule, but it still allows me clarity and focus! With this I also have a master list for each category in my life, and usually plan my day to allow myself to hit one thing with top priority on that list!

3. Self-care

I think this one is a simple clear one…but sometimes when we are busy it falls in the cracks!! Sleep in one day, remember to do your skin care routines morning and evening, set time to get into a bubble bath, do a face and or hair mask, and just enjoy relaxing and taking care of yourself! When I take care and prioritize self care I am always a better me in every other aspect of my life!

4. Get off my phone

Super hard one for me to do, but wow does it make a difference! I have been trying to be better & not look at my phone until post workout and also be off my phone by a certain time in the evening. I am not always great at this, but sometimes when I’m feeling in a funk or out of sync I know being off of social media and living my own life intentionally is the best answer! Social media is an amazing place, but it is can be draining sometimes, leaving you feeling like where you’re at in your life is never enough? Set the phone down, and be present and intentional in your own life!

5. Pray

Listening to Christian worship music is so soothing for me mentally, and always bring me back to my core! Reading devotional, praying, going to church, and just talking to Ryan about faith and other avenues of our practices, reminds me what matters most in life!  Truly working on who He called me to be is what matters most, and that His plan is far better than this funk or mindset block I am having! To remind myself how grateful I am for the life I have and another day to live it!

By no means am I saying I have no funks or off times in my life, I’m actually struggling through a funk right now! So I felt this one was necessary to write about, hopefully it can help or bless one of you and to remind you, you are not alone! At all, ever!

How I Asked My Bridesmaids;

Wedding planning has officially begun! I am so excited to keep you guys in the loop throughout this entire exciting and magical process!

If you are coming to this blog post from my Instagram, you saw that over the last few weeks I officially and successfully completed my bridesmaids proposals!

I had so much fun with this process, and it seems like the feedback that I’ve gotten so far that you guys also loved how it came together! I wanted to make sure that it was very on board with who I am, my aesthetic, and a little bit into a glimpse of what I think the vibe of the wedding will be! I also wanted to make sure that I was unique, and put together something that I thought was special and had thought behind it!

So a little background story, the song Friends by Ella Henderson, I first heard it probably a year or so ago, and for some reason it just really connected to me and was kind of my friend theme song since that time! I remember thinking when I was listening to it one time, that I wanted to incorporate this song some way shape or form into the way I asked my bridesmaids to be in my wedding one day! Well flash forward now that I am engaged…I found the perfect and super special way to incorporate it into this box!

If you know me you know I am all into aesthetic’s, but also into sentimental and unique things! So I wanted to make sure that this box entailed all that! I also wanted the girls who I asked to be in my wedding to feel very special, and also know that I took time in the way that I asked them! I wanted it to be a full experience…so by incorporating the QR code that played the song Friends by Ella Henderson while they were reading the cards and looking through the box was the key to this success! For everyone that I got to ask in person, almost every single one of them teared up (so I think that was mission accomplished)!

I love that I gave them something to do in order to say yes, which was the cookie with a yes or no on it! In the notes I wrote in the cards I put the words “bite the cookie with your reply ;)) So that made it really fun and interactive! They then, also have the card as a memory, as well as the picture frame that they can put and take anywhere with them so they remember this experience, journey, and chapter in our lives together!

Top 5 EASY Healthy Go-To Dinners:

Life is hectic and busy, I get it! Figuring out what to cook for dinner is one of the worst first world problems of adulthood right 😉

I love sharing what I make on my Instagram because I’m always looking for ideas too! I love to cook healthy, but in a way that isn’t super bland and boring! So I figured I would round up a few of my favorite go to meals that I cook during the week! Sometimes I get fancy and try new things, but these are SO easy and don’t take a lot of time which is even more of a plus for me! Let’s get into it….

  1. 1. Healthy Ziti

Sauté one cup of onions on skillet w EVOO

Add in garlic salt pepper and ground turkey

Once browned add in box of pasta (banza)

Pour in jar of spaghetti sauce (raos)

And 3/4 of the jar refilled with water into pan

Cover and let simmer for 20mins

Turn oven on to broil

Add cheese (dairy free for me) and put in oven for 3-4 mins

Can always swap noodle for spaghetti squash (we do that sometimes when we want less carb)

2. Mexican Lasagna

Ground turkey in a skillet with EVOO

Add in 1/2 packet of taco seasoning and jar of salsa (usually use Farmers Whole Foods brand) once the turkey is fully cooked

Simmer for 10 mins

Preheat oven to 400

Base your glass dish with EVOO

Lay down two flour tortillas (I use siete)

Lay half of the turkey meat down

Add in 3/4 can of drained black beans

Top with two more tortilla

More meat and beans

Cheese

Tortillas

Top with cheese

Cook for about 25 mins

Top with avocado

  1. 3. Ground Turkey with Roasted Veggies, Rice, and Sauce

Ground turkey with EVOO salt and pepper

Add in garlic and onion powder

Prepare brown rice of choice

Roast any veggie in oven at 375 degrees with EVOO and seasonings for about 10-15 mins

Throw it all in a bowl and add a dressing of choice (we usually do a Primal Kitchen or Tesse Mae’s)

  1. 4. Salad and Fries

Lettuce combination (usually do romaine and kale)

Chop up veggies including:

Tomatoes

Red onions

Cucumber

Squash

Zucchini

Carrots

Avocado

Sauté and cook a lean meat in skillet with seasonings of choice

Preheat oven to packaged fries label ( we always do sweet potato)

After lettuce is cleaned and prepared, add into big bowl

Add in the veggies

Add in things like (toasted almonds, chick peas, etc)

Thrown meat into the salad bowl

Add in basil oregano season salt

Top with dressing of choice with fries on side

  1. 5. Chicken Fried Rice

Start with a skillet and your ground chicken

Sauté with EVOO salt and pepper

Prepare brown rice while it is cooking

We use frozen pea and carrot combo to make this even easier

As the chicken is cooked and browned

Drain and return to skillet

Add in rice

Add in coconut amino acids

Stir and let it cook and simmer in

Add in cooked frozen veggies and more amino acids

Clear small opening in skillet and crack in two eggs

Let the eggs cook and scramble

Mix around and serve

We serve with a healthy “yum yum” sauce we buy at Kroger too

I’m not a chef, nor an expert, but these are a variety of some of the meals I cook that are healthy yummy and easy!! Let me know if you enjoyed this blog and if you make any of the meals XO!

Love, Baby Love

Let’s talk love languages!

Have you heard of these before? I had never heard of different love languages, and the love language book/test until starting to date Ryan! We made it a point early on in our relationship to discuss love languages, and to take the quiz and read the book together as a commitment to growing our relationship!

I cannot say enough good things about this book and what it does for relationships…because crazy enough the way that you want to receive love, is not always the number one way that other people feel loved! Let me explain that a little more…

Meaning, if I feel that the biggest act of love is always having a clean house, or folded clothes put away, I then instinctually do those things for Ryan thinking that that is showing my greatest love! And yes it is love no matter what, but to him another act of a love language may be way higher up, so I need to prioritize that even (more if that makes sense).

To make it more personal, at the beginning of our relationship, I was always leaving little surprises and doing different gifts and special things for Ryan to come home to after a long day of basketball, or if we were doing long-distance sending things and he absolutely loved adored and appreciated it, but physical touch and words of affirmation, for example, go way higher for him!

The reason being is because I love the little acts of service and gift giving, and let me set the precedent straight here before we go any further, (I feel like gift giving in a nut shell kind of sounds really egotistic and like a bratty type of love language and I’ve had a hard time excepting it) but I really feel like acts of service and gift giving go hand-in-hand; reason being is I’m not asking for a Louis Vuitton every day (hey, I’m not gonna complain if that shows up at my door), but I’m more thinking like how he stopped to get gas on his way home and saw my favorite candy and brought it home, or if I went downstairs & the dishes were clean, or that he left me a note, it’s the thinking of me and feeling appreciated that goes miles for me!

I’m going to attach at the end of this, the love language test book and a fun game, because I cannot recommend it enough! Whether you are single, engaged, dating, married etc., and I think it’s also great to go back to at different times to remind yourself that everyone is felt and loved differently. & how to make sure that you’re always putting love languages in the forefront of your relationship!

I say this to just know where your partner feels the most love, and what is in the top of their love languages, but definitely not to shy away from expressing and doing every single love language…like yes physical touch and words of affirmation may be higher up for Ryan, but I’m not going to completely shy away from quality time, acts of service, and gift giving right?! We want to have a balanced relationship, but we also know where we can shine and where they’re going to feel the most love and appreciation.

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the motions and go through day today so I make sure in my affirmations every single day, to remind myself to prioritize our love languages! Something that Ryan and I do, is if we are ever feeling like our love tank is on empty, to share that with each other…because sometimes and more often than not it’s something that we are totally not even realizing that were slacking on because we’re just caught up in the craziness of life/travel/ and things that go on. It’s normal to feel that way from time to time, but it’s also great to have accountability to remind each other when you’re not feeling the love! This whole book explains the whole love languages in its entirety, love tanks, and to challenge each other and continuous level up your relationship (I cannot recommend it enough I probably said that 55 times already LOL, but it is true).

But seriously I feel like knowing and understanding this is so pivotal, it is one of the pillars in Ryan and I’s relationship, and why I think we do have such a strong relationship. Also not that it’s about a competition or keeping scores/tabs etc. because love is selfless, but you’re always going to be more eager, willing, and wanting to do these things for your partner when you’re feeling it in return. So start the initiative…go do something special for them, maybe make a challenge to do something every week, and YES some things are going to be bigger and more thought out than others…but don’t overestimate a little fold of the blanket, a little picking up of your clothes, a little cute flirty text, as so on, all these different things add up and are going to allow your SO to feel loved and cared for; which ultimately is going to result in a more abundant growing evolving relationship which is what we all want!

Have you heard and do you practice the love languages in your life!? Let me know in the comments or message me privately the email or Instagram! Attached below is the book, game, and the love language quiz!

Morning Routine

what is your favorite morning routine?!

here’s how most days start for me, and some tips to help you create small habits, so in return you can have happy productive days (cause those are the best days right??).

1. hug kiss & cuddle my boys

I love starting my day reminding myself of my reason why I do what I do every single day, and why I want to work hard and be better. also, slowly give myself a few minutes before getting into my day with cuddles and love is huge for my heart.

2. get myself out of bed & when my feet hit the ground say “thank you”

I learned this from my good friend, and it has been so helpful for me to start my day positively and with abundance and sense of gratitude. Thanking the Lord that I woke up healthy again, and have another day.

3. make a tizzy or protein coffee and look over my to do list for the day

I believe taking time to have your healthy morning routine and recap on all you want to accomplish for the day without being insanely rushed or hectic is key to a mindset that concurs and is productive throughout the day. I enjoy my clean energy, and remind myself of what I am going to tackle, as well as when and how that day.

4. clean up and tidy the house, throw in a load of laundry

Who doesn’t love a clean space? I usually clean up every night before bed as well, but making sure all the blankets are folded, the countertops are wiped down, dishes are away, and I have a clean clean space makes my brain function better I swear!! Anyone else?! Also, I love throwing in a load of laundry to start the day to keep up with it throughout the week, instead of having tons at the end or beginning of each week.

5. do my morning skin/beauty routine (don’t forget your SPF)

Take time to take care of yourself, investing in skin care and beauty products that allow you to keep the one body you’ve been given healthy and thriving, is so key for optimal self care and happiness. Get into a habit of doing this daily, and find out what routine and products work best for you, and what you’re doing throughout the day!

6. speak my affirmations on the way to move by body with exercise

Lastly this, but to me the most important. Affirmations, positive talk, and prayers aloud has been a game changer for me. I read personal development books daily and without a doubt, this subject is recommended in every single book. It may seem silly or feel weird, but DO IT. Speak aloud who you are, where you want to be, where you are in five years, manifest that ISH!! It sets a tone of wanting to be productive, but also being thankful, grateful, and eager to move your stone one step closer to your goals with the day you have ahead of you. I do this on the way to my workout, which is my last point…to exercise and move your body. Movement is medicine Y’ALL. The days I don’t work out I feel the difference, I’m not perfect nor always want to exercise, but I commit to it at least 4 days a week and I’ve never once met a workout I regretted. It’s an amazing feeling, and leaves you full of endorphins afterwards with the entire day ahead of you!

Share some of the tips you do to have a productive morning! Habit setting and consistency helps me continue to have positive energy and a determined attitude every single day!

5 Spring Trends I’m Into

Every single year we know there are a lot of trends that come and go. I wanted to share with you guys today a quick easy blog about five spring trends that I can get behind! Not going to lie, sometimes trends pop up and I am totally not into it…but these are a few that really fit my vibe that I’m definitely going to incorporate into my life and looks this spring season.

Let me know some of the trends you are loving, and if you are passing or buying on even the five that I mentioned here! All right let’s get right into it…

1.PASTEL GREEN: I have been loving this color and honestly was very inspired by shades of green, more on the earthy sage side for our home, so I am totally behind this. I do love the pastel themes coming back in to play! Not sure I’m totally behind mixing all of them, you know I love my neutral pallet, but this green color I can definitely get behind!

2. SCARF BANDANA: I have always loved rocking the bandana scarf over my head, so I can easily buy into this vibe for the more Amelia Earhart vibes style! I think this needs to be strategically placed with the right look and outfit to be pulled off!

3. FUNKY NAILS: Funky nails has always been a win in my book! I love having FUN on my nails and taking risks! Honestly, I used to get a little judged for rocking “funky crazy nails”, but I’m loving that it is so common now, so a YES for me!

4. PLATFORM MULES: Chunky platform mules are something I’ve been recently incorporating into my style, and I’m SO into it! They are so fashionable, and add such a fun look to complete your outfit! && might I add WAY more comfortable than heels…sign me up!!

5. CUT OUT DRESSES: The cut out dress is one that was up in the air for me at first TBH. I haven’t bought any myself yet, so I can’t say I necessarily will rock it this season. But, the way I have seen some put looks together I am on board. I think you can complete the fit accordingly, so it still comes across chic/trendy, and not tacky/inappropriate.

Okay ladies and gents, let me hear your thoughts! Are you buying or passing these looks this spring season?! And as always send me any suggestions for future content and looks!
